Behind-the-Scenes Story

My friend Alex Morley took this photograph of my friend Spike and me shortly after we were finished photographing the lighthouse. As you can see, I am wearing rubber boots and Spike is not. Those rubber boots let me get into the exact right position (for me) to make my picture while keeping my feet dry. Spike, on the other hand, walked away with soaked sneakers and socks. The moral of the story: Clothing can be very important when photographing in challenging situations.

You’ll also notice that some of the rocks are covered with water and algae, a combination of elements that makes rocks very, very slippery. When walking on rocks, be extra careful. Move slowly. A slight slip and you and your camera may wind up in the drink.
